Lightwell developed a capacitive touchwall in the Great Southern Oceans section of Taronga Zoo to explain how plastic pollution affects wildlife.
This 11.15-metre installation consists of three sections: a cityscape introduction, a central interactive zone highlighting plastic categories, and a seascape designed to prompt visitors to reconsider their plastic usage.
The wall features idle animations to encourage interaction across 10 capacitive touchpoints. When activated, each point triggers an animated scenario of a sea creature encountering plastic waste, accompanied by a custom audio track. This project serves as an educational tool to engage visitors with the environmental challenges facing our oceans.
