In collaboration with the Australian War Memorial and exhibition designers Culture Collective and Freeman Ryan Design, Lightwell developed a series of multimedia productions for the Afghanistan Gallery in the Memorial’s Anzac Hall.
Productions include personal story interviews, interactive video players and a cross-gallery digital label system for showcase, collection and large technology objects.
One of the installations in the gallery is Bushmaster Debbie Crew Story, a 3-screen video production that tells the story of an Australian Army Bushmaster that struck a high-grade improvised explosive device (IED) in the Deh Rawud district of Uruzgan province, Afghanistan in 2012.
Lightwell worked on this gallery for five years, from initial concept design workshops and multimedia documentation, through to filming all the interviewees, multimedia production, and final commissioning onsite. Throughout this process, we worked closely with the exhibition designers, curators, Memorial project team, architects, electricians, joinery teams, lighting designers, AV Systems and IT teams to bring this project together.
