Surviving Australia
Australian Museum, Sydney
Interactive installation, interactive screen applications, atmospheric/informative video programs
June 2008
This new permanent exhibition at the Australian Museum explores how Australia’s unique inhabitants, from the small and deadly to the giant and ancient, have evolved to survive an ever-changing climate and landscape.

Lightwell created six multimedia elements for the exhibition that both expand the themes of Surviving Australia and are significant attractions in themselves. A spectacular, six-metre long interactive table allows visitors to touch a ‘dangerous Australian’ and see how it reacts. A dual touchscreen program reveals what will happen to Sydney if sea levels rise; while an atmospheric video projection allows visitors to wonder at Australia’s exotic sea creatures up close.
